Voluntarios del programa

Muchas gracias por su interés en saber más sobre las oportunidades de voluntariado de SAFEchild.

We need volunteers to serve in three main areas:

  • Children’s volunteers to provide activities for children during SAFEchild Advocacy Center appointments or caregivers’ parenting classes. These volunteers will come in once a week for two to three hours, either daytime or evening.
  • Greeters to welcome families and other visitors, direct them to the appropriate staff member, and assist with various administrative tasks. These volunteers will come in one morning or afternoon a week for two hours.
  • Assistants for our Spanish-speaking parenting program, Crianza con Cariño. These volunteers must be available Tuesday or Thursday morning from 9:30am to 12:30pm; proficiency in Spanish is preferable.

Please note that all of our opportunities are for Monday through Friday only – we are not open weekends.

All new SAFEchild volunteers attend a SAFEchild training session, agree to a background check, and take a Prevent Child Abuse NC online training on recognizing and responding to suspicions of child abuse.

  • Create cozy “comfort capes” (no-sew fleece blankets) for the children evaluated in the SAFEchild Advocacy Center. We rely on our wonderful individual and group volunteers to make these easy-to-assemble blankets for us! Instructions are here. Please contact us for more information, including drop-off details.
  • Assemble snack packages containing individually wrapped snacks for parents and children attending our programs. Instructions are here. Please contact us for more information, including drop-off details.
  • Knit or crochet a purple cap for a newborn. These sweet caps become part of a care basket given to new mothers joining our Moms Supporting Moms programs and serve as a reminder of the Period of PURPLE Crying. Find instructions for creating the caps here.
  • Hold a supply drive for SAFEchild in your neighborhood, company, civic group or church. We need paper products, cleaning supplies and certain children’s and (caregivers’) books and games. Find more information on our wish list page.

If you or your corporate or civic group is interested in serving SAFEchild remotely in one or more of these special ways, please contact Claudia Cortina-Czap at ccortinaczap@safechildnc.org to receive more information and instruction sheets (if applicable). Thank you!
