Comprehensive medical evaluations for children when there is concern
for sexual abuse, physical abuse and/or neglect

The SAFEchild Advocacy Center serves:

Any child from birth through age 17 who resides in Wake County (or if the alleged incident occurred in Wake County) when there is an open child abuse investigation involving physical abuse, sexual abuse or serious neglect.

Services at the SAFEchild Advocacy Center include:

  • A forensic interview with a trained child abuse evaluation specialist and a medical examination conducted by a pediatrician who specializes in child abuse.
  • Advocacy services for ongoing support and referrals for other needed services such as mental health therapy for all children and their families.

Appointment details:

  • Length – Each appointment is 2 1/2 hours.
  • Location – SAFEchild Advocacy Center, 2815 Kidd Road, Raleigh.
  • Day and time – Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday at specific times from 8:30am to 4:30pm. NOTE:  Appointments are scheduled only by Child Protective Services and law enforcement.
  • Cost – No fee, but please bring insurance card.
