MENS Program

A parent education program that helps fathers create and strengthen nurturing relationships with their children

MENS (Men Engaged in Nurturing Strategies) is for:

Fathers mandated by Wake County courts, law enforcement or a social service agency.

Program focus

  • Helping fathers recognize the adverse impact that domestic violence has on their children.
  • Making the connection between the violence the men experienced themselves growing up and that which they are exhibiting in their current families.
  • Strengthening communication, anger management and positive discipline skills.
  • Peer-to-peer group support, facilitated by a trained professional, that helps to reduce feelings of isolation and reinforcing positive parenting techniques.

Program details

  • Length – Once a week for 11 weeks; each class is 2 hours.
  • Location – SAFEchild community partner located downtown
  • Day and time – Monday or Thursday, 6:30pm-8:30pm
  • Cost – $175
